OUR HISTORY |
2004 | Our organization, starting with our Baseball program was founded by JR Huerta. With the help of a group of volunteers and the City of Dallas Recreation program, we would prepare for our first season and players the following year.
|
2009 | Dallas Youth Baseball (DYB) became an independent program, under the direction of JR Huerta. Our volunteer board members prepared for our first Opening Day Ceremony, teams' parade, and annual First Pitch of the Season coming in Spring 2010 at Kiest Park.
|
2010
| What once was a City of Dallas recreation program, under the director of Ruben Limon, Dallas Youth Soccer (DYS) would be established as an independent program. Under the direction of JR Huerta and Robert Rocha, our volunteer board members prepared for our first Kick Off Ceremony and annual First Kick of the Season coming in Spring 2010 at Hulcy Park.
|
2012
| Dallas Youth Athletic Association was born as a 501(c) non-profit organization which incorporated DYB and DYs. We work in partnership with Dallas Youth Baseball and Dallas Youth Soccer to provide affordable recreational sports programs to the youth of the Dallas-Oak Cliff area.
|
2014
| The Huerta Family created a program that will eventually be known as the DYS Scholarship Foundation. With Alicia, Krystal and Jacob Huerta as committee members, this program aims to help students with the pursuit of a higher education.
|
2017
| We are now known as Dallas Youth Sports, a multi-sport organization that builds leaders of the future. DYS has over 4,000 registered youth every year playing under the director of our sport directors and volunteers.
|
2018
| Thanks to a partnership with Trinity Basin Preparatory, Dallas Youth Sports would find a home at the TBP Athletic Complex. With this multi-use complex, DYS would become a predominate organization to host youth, adult, college and semi-pro tournaments for both basketball and volleyball.
|
2019
| Dallas Youth Sports will begin to focus more on our community. We organized our first Toy Giveaway for the holiday season and started other programs the following year, like our Back to School community event. We work to improve and create other staple events in the community. |
2020
| Our football program was started, with the help of Oscar Manzo and the North Oak Cliff Eagles. Adding this to our organization would open our youth programs to all of the four major sports and fuel our desire to expand even more!
|
2021
| With the lack of a solely youth female sports league in the Oak Cliff area, Dallas Youth Sports has decided to start establishing a softball program. Even though we already have a few young girls participating in our organization, we want to give even more girls the opportunity to play sports in their community. |
2022
| In need of a location to grow their basketball program, UNT Dallas found a home with us. Dallas Youth Sports would host all practices and home games for both the Men's and Women's basketball teams for the 2022-2023 season. We will continue our partnership through 2026. |
2023
| Dallas Youth Sports has become an NFL Flag Football sanctioned league. Under the direction of Jacob Huerta and Benny Guzman our first annual Kick Off and games will be held in Spring 2023. |
2024 | DYAA and DYS celebrate our 20th year of service to the community! Thank you to our volunteers and players for helping us make this happen. |
